2008 Wisconsin Dual Sport Wabeno Spring Run
I rode the "thumper Route" with a bypass of the hero sections on the 2008 Spring "Ride 4 Research" (Wabeno) Wisconsin Dual Sport Riders club event. The Wabeno event also has an Adventure Ride which runs you on 230 miles of hard packed gravel and sugar sand forest roads, some fine two track and paved roads. This being on the AMA BMW National Adventure Riding Series Schedule and the Midwest being a hot spot for BMW GS, I figured this to be a large number of BMW. PapaLobster, my neighbor and fellow WDSR member was the only other BMW on the Ride. There were four 950 KTM Adventure and the rest of the roster was a split of KTM and Japanese bikes under 500 cc.
When Dale and I arrived at R4R, first job was to set up the tent and do the sound check.
The next item on the agenda was to go to the Farm and sign-up for the test ride on the KTM. A track was set up for open field ride and another track for hero section ride. Dale rode the EXC 250 and I rode the 450 on the hero. I left my camera on my BMW, a totally missed photo op.
